Work from Home – A magical Takeoff

In this pandemic situation companies allowed their employees to work from home. After some initial hiccups, companies and employees found a way to manage things remotely.  

Now, it is slowly emerging as a viable option to continue. However, some companies are too hurry on calling back their employees to office thinking that ONLY work from office can increase the productivity.   Is it that hard….?!!

It is very true that few work forces are barely needed to work from office and we can’t avoid them for our business continuity. Am totally in for that. While the critical employees work from office, the non-critical may remain at work from home provided the necessary infrastructure is available or provided by the company.  

 In this write-up, i tried summing up the advantages & Tips on Work-From-Home for various stake holders to betterment the process. 

 For Individuals:

1.As you work from home, you will avoid to and fro travel to office, hectic traffic stress, pollution etc.  

2.You will have decent savings on fuel. Less carbon-Less pollution. There by, contributing to the environment.  

3.You get more time to spend with Wife & Children, Parents etc.  

4.Having food at home, you are gently keeping yourself away from Junk foods. 

5.Since you get more free time, you may use it wisely to learn newer technologies, improve soft-skills etc.

6.You will achieve higher degree of Work-Life balance as lot of time is saved on travel, unwanted meetings, lesser stress etc.

For Company:

 1. By allowing majority of the employees to work from home, you will spend lesser on covid19 precautions/procedures like temperature screening, sanitizing persons,  work locations at a periodic interval on a daily basis. 

2. You may find reduced consumption of snacks, food and other beverages, overall reduction in operational running cost on electricity, house keeping, /IT infrastructure etc. 

3. Avoid unnecessary panicking situations even, if a person suffer from normal cold. 

4. You may extract more output from an employee as lot of time saved on traveling to and fro to office. This increases the overall productivity of the company. 

5. Your company value system gets better and it can attract more people to get employed. Any job offer will get overwhelming response and you may have higher probability of getting well skilled resources.  

8. You may invest more time & money to concentrate deeper on new projects/markets/coining new ideas, high-tech marketing plans etc. 

9. Govt advises not to use Air conditioners at office. So, with No AC, less power consumption at work,  You become a greener company. 

11.Employee-Employer trust increases and it will create more value & respect for your company in the market. 

12.Cloud server connectivity for secured document sharing eliminates the need of physical server installation, VPNs, and minute by minute monitoring. Your savings in infrastructure setup & maintenance cost increases. 

13.Lastly, contributing towards covid19 control measures, social distancing, Energy efficient office,  you are helping your country to break-the-chain that increases the chances of coming out of this situation at the earliest. 

For a Country: By practicing these policies, you are directly helping your country to do well in its global contribution. 

 1.More greener companies, consumes less energy, emits lesser hazards. Country’s increased contribution on to reduce global warming. 

2.As your citizen’s consume lesser fuel, you may foresee a lesser spend for Crude oil purchase which gives a surplus money for the country to invest in healthier, self-sustaining  projects. 

3.By Promoting local businesses, local traders, supporting local Farmers and enabling them to sell their products directly, your country become a self-sustained nation which helps you to reduce on import expenses. 

4.While the import expenses will reduce, the exports will remain larger as the remote working does not affect many industries.   

 Finally, for Mother earth 

1. Earth gets greener and cooler. 

2. Lesser UV rays, increase in natural resources like water, tree, on-time  Fall/Spring/Winter/Summer. Next time you won’t miss your holidays 🙂 !!

3. Since, we enable the earth to reborn with all vitals, we are leaving the earth intact for our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren too.  

 My take on this is, sort out issues on WFH, make it as a professional approach for future business. By reducing our expenses atleast for the next 3 years, we will make our company in the quarters of profit rather than waiting fingers crossed.
